Sri Sadasiva Bramendrar took to Sanyas as ordained by Lord Varadharaja Perumal,
the presiding deity of Kanchi, on Wednesday, the 2nd of January 2002, the 18th
day of Tamil month Margazi. It was also Sankata Hara Chaturthi on that day. The
function took place at the place called Thirumaanur which is about 75 kilometers
from Trichi, during the Pradosha Kaalam (between 4.00 to 6.00 p.m.) on the banks
of the sacred river Kollidam according to the rites prescribed in Mundakopanishad
and Parivrajaka aasrama. After
taking to Sanyas, His Holiness Sri Sadasiva Bramendrar visited the Kalivaradhan
temple which is about 4 kilometers from the city Ariyalur and paid homage to Lord
Kalivaradha, the presiding deity of the temple. He resumed daily Poojas in His
temple at Thiruvelichai, Kelambakkam and other regular activities in Chennai from
the 4th of January 2002.
