Trance State Of A Religious Man
Mar 22 2002

For him the soul disassociates itself from the physical body and has little contact with the physical consciousness to preserve the living body. When the soul so disassociated, it has the capacity to observe and absorb absolute knowledge. Those to whom this trance state occurs frequently evolve as a saint. Here, what is the action that is going on? In this state, the saints acquire more experience and absolute knowledge to the exclusion of the brain and is independent of the brain. Prior to this the five sensory organs are under partial suspension of the vital functions.

Whenever the soul aphrehends any disturbance to the physical body, it merges back with the physical body and the vital functions of the sensory organs are restored. This is called catalysmic state. The net result of this experience in the religious line is that, the soul substitues for the functions of the brain.

As mentioned earlier, the soul is not an organ while the brain is. This is the uniqueness of religion in that, the soul accomplishes everything that any organ like the brain can accomplish. The two examples of saints who have experienced this are Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Sri Krishna Chaitanya.
